Another Chapter has Begun
Wednesday, May 18th, 2005A new chapter in my life has just begun. After 4 years of hardwork in high school, college has already opened its doors to new beginnings, friends, experiences, and paths.
It started last Tuesday, May 17, 2005, as I entered the beautiful gates of De La Salle University Manila. It was the first day I met my new set of blockmates, teachers, and friends. The day started with snobbish attitude toward other people, because we didn’t know who they are. The day was pleasant and so did the bright faces of the new Lasallians. Lasallian Ambassadors (Ralph and Lei) came and guided us towards the day.
We registered then went directly up to the auditorium. After waiting for some time, people started coming and seating beside me. Little did I realize that yes, this is really the start of a new chapter, a new journey I have to take. We were taught new prayers and songs. There I met my first blockmate whose name was Joey. I had a lot of fun! Then came the introduction of each block. We were called "S15" and so we stood in awe and shouted our first cheer of the day "S15 the best, ANIMO LASALLE!!! Whoooooohhh!!!" - I bet were the loudest block who shouted our cheer, haha..
Time flew so fast and it was time to go down and mingle with my new blockmates as we have our first break. I sat and ate my mocha roll and drunk my C2. I was feeling very shy then, so I was just eating and texting. It was quite a disappointment for me to have the break finish without talking to anyone of them. We went to our room and shared a little talk with our Lasallian Amabassadors without noticing that we are already late for our next activity - mass. We ran as fast as we could and thank God, the mass was not yet starting.
After the mass came lunch and there I have met my new buddy and friend Edric. We ate our lunch and I was thinking it will be another wasted opportunity for me to talk to them. I was wrong. Frances, Tsai, and Stacey started the conversation and there - we started asking each other’s name and school. After eating, we threw our trashes and it was Edric and me who were talking to one another. Until there… he became my companion for the whole day.
We went back to the room and started playing games, listening to rules, and knowing each other. It was really a great time for all of us! I was so hungry by then coz I ate too little during lunch. Finally, time came for us to have our break. We ate the ensaimada and drunk C2 while walking towards and campus to have our tour. Buildings were introduced and infos were spoiled. During the library tour, I together with Edric/Mark/Paulline met Jorette (a Lasallian Ambassador).
We had our block picture taking and then went to the place of the orgs wherein we received a lot of freebies. haha. The people there were so happy and enthusiastic as they shouted ‘Hi! Welcome to La Salle!’ I was just so happy and I felt so welcomed at that time. We stopped for a while to fix our things and headed on to the 9th floor of the sports complex.
It was hot there, but it became hotter when the DLSU dance companies and PEP Squad entered the venue to show off their God-given talents. Of course, our eyes were glued on them. Haha. It was the last part of the day when the singers from Innersoul went up the stage and sung songs. We were told to go down and so everyone did. We danced a little, we shouted a little. Time was so fast then. It was time to go home. We were given a bag of junkfoods and of course our favorite drink C2. Haha.
The gym was empty by that time. Edric, Mark, Paulline, and I together with a bunch of Lasallian Ambassadors walked to the gate at the same time.
It was really a tiring day for all of us. Nevertheless, everyone surely had fun and gained new friends and experiences. The day ended with a hard rainfall, which symbolizes more blessings to come for all of us froshies of the best university in the Philippines, De La Salle University Manila. ANIMO La Salle!
